This past week we had the absolute pleasure of meeting with Troy and his family. Since moving to Nebraska after being displaced from Hurricane Katrina, Troy has been diagnosed with two different types of cancer. Despite these setbacks, Troy and his wife Andrea have the most positive attitude that is absolutely infectious. They have dedicated their lives to giving to those in need, whether it be to hungry neighbors or friends who have physical difficulties. Their son even mentioned that he will come home from school and find one less pair of shoes – his mom finds people who needs them more than himself!

Throughout our conversation, Troy drilled these words into our heads: persistence and diligence. He says that if you apply these to your lives, you can overcome and achieve anything. After having a meal with this family, it is clear that these are words to live by. We continue to send strength and well wishes to Troy and his family!
